Yet another tax

Hello freedom lovers, Second Amendment enthusiasts, Libertarians, and people who really don’t pay attention, plus finally…those of the liberal persuasion.

The governor, Gavin Newsom, and his Sacramento henchmen have thrown down the gauntlet yet again against our constitutionally enshrined Right to Bear Arms established by the Founders in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Now what you might ask?

How about an additional “Excise Tax” on guns and ammunition starting July 1, of this year. I’m sure lawsuits are already being filed and briefs prepared to fight this blatant violation of our guaranteed rights.

Ever heard of the Poll Tax? It was a tax Democrats pushed in the early 1900s to keep black people from voting. If you wanted to vote, you would pay a fee for that right and privilege.

The 24th Amendment was eventually passed in the early 60s to end this so-called “tax.”

So, maybe this new California-only excise tax will face the same scrutiny. Newsom wants to tax your rights.

How much is it? Eleven percent, read that again… eleven percent.

A $100 dollar firearm, or a $100 dollar box of ammo as of July 1 will be $111, thanks to the anti-citizen democrat legislators in homeless-infested Sacramento. Add on top of that the 8.75 percent sales tax Mariposans were so quick to embrace a few years ago.

The tax will be for ammo too. We already pay a state fee of $1 every time we want to buy any ammo. So, now it’s going to be guns and ammo. This is a financial penalty to all the citizens who haven’t done anything but exercise their right to bear arms for their personal defense.

Maybe we are getting used to this treatment. Maybe we feel we can’t do anything about it, just gently sigh and say “oh, well.” Maybe we want to move.

Is there any good news?

Going to court against the State of California sometimes works! It can take a long time, but we see little victories along the way.
Bad news, new taxes. Good news, new guns added to the roster of “safe” handguns we can now buy in the Golden State. There are new Sig , HK, Canik, Springfield, Smith and Wesson and Ruger guns approved for purchase.

The triggers are way better than we’ve become accustomed to. There are many new guns appropriate for discreet carry or CCW. Buy them before July 1 to avoid the excise tax.
