Mariposa Transportation Commission seeks applicants for Advisory Council Vacancies

The Mariposa County Local Transportation Commission is seeking applicants to fill several vacancies on its Social Services Transportation Advisory Council, known as SSTAC.

Residents interested in serving on the council are asked to submit a letter of interest to the commission, attention Rachel Nabors, at 4639 Ben Hur Road, Mariposa, CA 95338. Letters may also be sent by email to ranabors@mariposacounty.gov.

The SSTAC is a standing committee of the commission and typically meets twice a year. The advisory council reviews local transportation needs and advises the commission on transit issues affecting residents who rely on public and specialized transportation services.

Under state Public Utilities Code Section 99238, the council helps identify unmet transit needs, recommends action to the commission and advises on major transit matters, including coordination and consolidation of specialized transportation services.

Current vacancies include seats for a potential transit user age 60 or older, a potential transit user with a disability, a social services transportation provider for seniors, a social services provider for people with disabilities, a local social services provider for people of limited means and a local consolidated transportation service agency representative.
