Mariposa County Supervisors to consider visitor center RFP, DA appointment, and service actions

The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m. in the Board Chambers at the Mariposa County Government Center, 5100 Bullion Street.

Meeting Overview

The meeting will open with the call to order and roll call, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, introductions, and approval of the consent agenda. Public participation is available in person and by phone through the listed call-in number, +1 (929) 352-1921, access code 391 732 615#. The agenda notes that streamed audio may lag by one to four minutes, so members of the public who wish to comment remotely are directed to use the call-in line or submit written comments. Speakers on non-agenda items are limited to five minutes, and the agenda includes standard notice that no action may be taken on matters not appearing on the agenda unless otherwise authorized by state law.

Consent Agenda

The consent agenda includes 13 items designated for routine approval unless a supervisor or member of the public requests that an item be removed for discussion. Items include continuing a shelter crisis local emergency; approving revisions to the Chief Probation Officer, Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner classifications; declaring the annual Field of Service Veterans Day event and the Coulterville 9/11 event as county-sponsored events with associated fee waivers; receiving committee minutes; ratifying a letter of support for the Mariposa Fire Safe Council’s Hunters Valley Access Road Fuel Break Project; approving additional Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding; approving an agreement with Native Solutions Family Guidance Center dba TRADE Recovery Center for recovery services; and approving several budget actions and agreements involving Health and Human Services, Public Works, the Sheriff’s Department, and the Air Pollution Control District.

Several consent items require financial or administrative action. These include increasing a Community Services and Development energy assistance amendment by $158,333 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $633,333; approving a $230,702 recovery-services agreement; transferring $154,574 within the Health and Human Services Agency to close fiscal year 2025–2026 balances; approving budget adjustments involving Wawona Service Area funds and Sheriff’s Office vehicle expenses; approving a lease-to-own agreement for 12 Sheriff Department vehicles; and recognizing a $24,419 Community Air Protection incentives grant for the Air Pollution Control District.

Regular Agenda and Board Business

After any items removed from the consent agenda and departmental presentation time, the Board will receive public comment on non-agenda items. A recognition item asks the Board to proclaim September 22, 2026, as “Highway 140 Centennial Day.” The regular agenda includes three business items: waiving the first reading and introducing Title 15.12, the Mariposa County Addressing Code; approving a Request for Proposals for Visitor Center Services; and approving the donation of 250th Mariposa County lapel pins to the Mariposa Museum and History Center, with a finding that the donation benefits the county by supporting preservation of local history.

Afternoon Public Hearing

The Board is scheduled to reconvene at 2:00 p.m. for Board Information items. The afternoon agenda includes a public hearing to consider applicants for appointment to fill the unexpired term of the Mariposa County District Attorney. The Board will also hold a discussion and may give direction regarding indigent defense in Mariposa County.
