And another one bites the dust. Dome Fire forces cancellation of 2026 Mariposa Yosemite Car Show
A third community event, the 2026 Mariposa Yosemite Hot Rod & Custom Car Show has been canceled because the Mariposa County Fairgrounds is being used to support personnel assigned to the Dome Fire, Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce officials announced.
The Mariposa County Farm Bureau dinner has been rescheduled for November, and the Friends of the Fairground’s annual Suds & Sausage event has been cancelled.
Chamber officials said the fairgrounds has been reserved as a fire camp and staging area for emergency fire personnel. Although the cancellation is disappointing for organizers, participants and spectators, officials said they are grateful the facility can support crews working to protect Mariposa County.
The chamber emphasized that the annual Hot Rod & Custom Car Show is not ending. Officials said planning will turn toward bringing the event back in 2027 for another weekend of cars, cruising and community activities.
Meanwhile, the event’s Cruise Night will proceed as scheduled Friday, Oct. 16, in downtown Mariposa, chamber officials said. The cruise will run from 5:30 p.m. until dark.
Participants are asked to meet at O’Reilly Auto Parts between 3:30 and 5:20 p.m. before the downtown cruise begins. Hot rods, classics, custom vehicles, muscle cars and trucks are welcome, and residents may attend to watch the procession and support the community, according to the chamber.
Chamber officials thanked car show supporters for their understanding and continued involvement, adding that organizers look forward to seeing participants at Cruise Night and welcoming the full show back in 2027.
