Board to weigh committees, transit plans
The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the county Government Center, 5100 Bullion St., with discussion of county advisory bodies, state and federal legislative activity, transportation planning and several public works actions on the agenda.
Among the regular agenda items, supervisors are scheduled to discuss and give direction on the possible dissolution of board-appointed committees, commissions, boards and task forces. The board also will receive an update from Spencer Street of Townsend Public Affairs on state and federal activities affecting Mariposa County.
The consent agenda includes continuation of the local shelter-crisis emergency, receipt of first-quarter financial reports for fiscal year 2026-27 and recent county budget actions, and a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Supervisors also will consider supporting the Mariposa Fire Safe Council’s Regional Forestry Capacity Initiative and appointing Michele Wildhaber to the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council through Oct. 13, 2029.
Other consent items call for approving an updated legal-services agreement with Wanger Jones Helsley PC in the Richardson v. Briggs matter, adopting environmental findings and a mitigation-monitoring program for the Electric Vehicle Transit Yard Project, and approving a $56,662 change order with VSS International Inc. for the 2026 Triangle Road striping and slurry project.
At noon, the board will recess and convene as the Local Transportation Commission. The commission is scheduled to hear a presentation from Toole Design Group on the Mariposa Town Transit and Economic Development Initiative, a planning effort funded through a Caltrans Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant.
