Coulterville Utility Advisory Panel to hold first meeting Aug. 26
COULTERVILLE — The newly formed Coulterville Service Area No. 1 Advisory Committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Odd Fellows Lodge, 5030 Main St., according to Mariposa County Supervisor Shannon Poe.
North County Supervisor Poe said the committee, formed by Coulterville residents, is expected to choose a chair and receive an orientation on the laws governing advisory bodies and the procedures for conducting public meetings.
Representatives from Mariposa County Public Works and County Administration are also expected to brief the committee on grant findings, the history of the district and possible options for the community’s water and wastewater system.
County information describes Coulterville Service Area No. 1 as an advisory body to the Board of Directors on policies and operations affecting the service area. The advisory board reviews Public Works summaries of vendor and labor expenditures, revenues, utility capital fund balances, maintenance reports and planned capital projects.
The meeting comes after months of public discussion over utility rates in Coulterville and other small Mariposa County communities. Earlier this year, residents organized community ratepayer meetings after county officials presented potential increases tied to operating deficits, deferred maintenance and regulatory concerns.
The Aug. 26 meeting is open to the public. Residents and other interested parties are encouraged to attend.
