Mariposa Field of Honor set for Nov. 8–15
Mariposa County 4-H will host the 12th annual Field of Honor Nov. 8–15 at the Mariposa Museum & History Center, 5119 Jessie Street.
The free display will feature hundreds of American flags honoring veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders and others remembered by family members and neighbors.
The event includes Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. Residents and visitors may walk among the flags and read the dedications. 2026 event information
Beneficiaries listed for this year’s event include the Mariposa County Museum Youth Docent Program, the local American Legion and Mariposa VFW.
Flag sponsorships are available to honor a veteran, service member, first responder, family member, friend or hometown hero. Visitors do not need to sponsor a flag to attend.
Information about dedicating or reposting a flag and making a donation is available on the Mariposa Field of Honor event page.
The display continues a local youth service project documented more than a decade ago.
At the March 1, 2016, meeting of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors, 4-H member Jaq Quinn received an Emerald Star award for his “Field of Service Past & Present” project.
Quinn raised $2,000 through flag sales and donated the proceeds to the Mariposa History Center. He thanked family members and friends who helped with the project.
The Hornitos 4-H Club’s Citizenship project hosted the ninth annual event in 2023 under the name “Field of Service—Past & Present.” Proceeds that year supported local veterans organizations and the museum.
A UC Cooperative Extension newsletter announcing the 2024 gathering listed the Mariposa County 4-H Citizenship Project, Hornitos 4-H Club and Hornitos Patrons Club as coordinators.
