Suds & Sausage cancelled due to ongoing fire camp

Another community event, the annual Friends of the Fairground’s popular Suds & Sausage fundraiser, has been cancelled.

Officials of the organization state, “Due to the continued need for the fairgrounds by Incident Command as they respond to the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park, we regret to announce that this year’s Sausage & Suds event, scheduled for Saturday, October 17, has been cancelled.”

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support during this time. If you have purchased tickets, reserved table space, or are a sponsor, we will have information later about refund options,” officials added.

The federal firefighting agency has inhabited the entire Mariposa County Fairgrounds facilities and continues to do so as the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park approaches 7,000 acres.

The annual Mariposa County Farm Bureau dinner has also been cancelled for October and has been rescheduled for Nov. 14, in its traditional location, Building A. The event will feature a prime rib dinner, silent auction, live auction and dessert auction.

Proceeds from the dessert auction will support youth programs and scholarships aimed at investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders in Mariposa County.

This year’s dinner will honor Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dulcich of Mariposa’s Coast Do-It-Best Hardware as the Farm Bureau’s “Friend of Agriculture.”

Tickets are $85 per individual, or a table of either is $650. The bar is sponsored by Tlay Triangle Ranch. For tickets or to purchase a table, contact a Farm Bureau Director of the Farm Bureau office at (209) 742-5875, or email mcfarmbureau@sti.net.
