The Catheys Valley Historial Society is planning a homecoming celebration to honor the 170th year since Andrew Cathey purchased the sprawling foothill land known then as Vallecita. Today it is recognized as Catheys Valley in western Mariposa County.
The event will be held on Saturday, June 29 beginning at 10 a.m. at McCay Hall in Catheys Valley. Tickets are $25 and there will be free hot dogs for the kids. Lunch will be served by the Mariposa Lions Club
Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for Catheys Valley children, for maintenance of the old Catheys Valley Schoolhouse, and for honoring veterans.
The event, which is sponsored by the Catheys Valley Historical Society, is dedicated to preserving the history of Catheys Valley.
