Deadline Nears: Community leaders urged to file for John C. Fremont Healthcare District Board

With the candidate filing deadline fast approaching, residents interested in shaping the future of local rural healthcare are being urged to file for one of three open seats on the John C. Fremont Healthcare District Board of Directors by Aug. 7.

The John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation hosted an informational event in April to help the public better understand the role of the healthcare district’s board leadership. Board members are elected public officials responsible for guiding the district’s mission, strategic direction, quality of care, financial stewardship, facilities, programs and community health priorities.

The board provides governance and oversight on behalf of district residents, but does not manage the district’s day-to-day operations. Candidates must be registered voters who live within the John C. Fremont Healthcare District and should be prepared to review important information, attend meetings, collaborate respectfully and represent the interests of the broadercommunity.

No candidate is expected to bring every area of expertise. Community experience, sound judgment, integrity and a commitment to rural healthcare are among the qualities valued for the position.
