Sheriff’s Office seeks emergency shelter sites for large animals
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified property owners to provide emergency shelter for horses, livestock and other large animals displaced by wildfires, floods, severe weather, evacuations or other disasters.
The Sheriff’s Office request for proposals is open to ranch owners, agricultural operators, livestock facilities and other property owners. Selected sites must have adequate acreage, secure livestock-suitable perimeter fencing, shade or shelter, reliable fresh water, and safe access for livestock trailers and emergency vehicles.
The goal of this Request for Proposals is to establish dependable shelter capacity that can be activated quickly and used for the duration of an emergency. The initial contract is expected to run for three years.
