JCF Healthcare District launches new self-service check-in technology
John C. Fremont Healthcare District is continuing its investment in technology and quality improvement with theupcoming launch of new Healow self-service check-in options at its clinics.
Beginning later this month, patients will have two convenient ways to complete the check-in process. Patientsmay check in from their own cell phone using a secure link sent by text message, or they may use a secure iPadkiosk provided at the clinic. Through either option, patients can verify demographic information, update insurancedetails, sign electronic consent forms, and complete health questionnaires.
Staff members will remain available to assist patients who need help, and a traditional check-in option will continue to be available.
The new system is designed to make registration faster and easier while reducing
paperwork and improving the accuracy of information entered into each patient’s health record. The project also aims to streamline front-office workflows, reduce registration-related delays, and allow clinic staff to spendmore time assisting patients with their individual needs.
“This is one of several quality improvement projects underway across John C. Fremont Healthcare District to make care more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered,” said Kati Baca, BSN, RN, District Quality RN andproject lead. “The goal is not simply to introduce new technology, but to use technology thoughtfully to reduceunnecessary paperwork, shorten the registration process, improve accuracy, and create a better overallexperience for both our patients and our staff.”
The self-service check-in system is part of John C. Fremont Healthcare District’s broader commitment tomodernizing local healthcare. This project is supported through a Central California Alliance for Health qualityimprovement initiative focused on enhancing access, streamlining care, and improving patient centered servicesthroughout the community.
The district has also hired additional office personnel and implemented a new phone system staffed byexperienced team members Monday through Friday during clinic hours. These staff members help coordinatereferrals, assist patients with scheduling needs, and route medical or prescription questions to the appropriate care team.
“I am incredibly proud of Kati Baca and the entire team for their leadership, collaboration, and thoughtful work onthis project,” said Stacey Kuzak, CEO of John C. Fremont Healthcare District. “This new check-in system reflects our continued commitment to improving patient experiences”
The district is strengthening its partnerships with Central California Alliance for Health, the region’s managedMedi-Cal health plan, and other regional healthcare providers. These partnerships are important to improvingaccess, coordination, and health outcomes in rural communities.
